I sent him some ill-used M14 parts for a glue and screw and he was able to work his magic and make them right. Nothing but top notch work!
And as a follow up, he did a trigger job on the same M14, as well as on my M1 Garand Expert Grade that I assembled at the CMP’s excellent Advanced Maintenance Course. The M14 trigger is GREAT, but the work on that Garand trigger….it’s the most excellent military two stage that’s still CMP/NRA competition legal I have ever handled.

In this day and age of leggo guns, firearms enthusiasts should all the more appreciate finished wood and blue steel. Unfortunately, craftsmen who know and love these pieces of exquisite equipment are now few and far between. Jeff Shapiro is one of them. He understands these old, battle tested platforms. I just arrived home from the range and can definitely say that I am both impressed and extremely pleased with the trigger work. The trigger is much crisper and predictable than the original. This has actually helped me to identify some underlying bad shooting habits of mine that the original trigger was masking. Most notable was my incorrect breathing followed by sloppy sight alignment. I was able to focus on these since I could see the results in my grouping pattern. As my session proceeded I worked on breathing and sight alignment and measurably tightened my group. In previous range sessions, the old trigger only added to the variation and randomness and I could only guess why I was shooting “shotgun pattern” groups.
You do great work and are a wealth of knowledge! I’ll be sending you my M1 Garand trigger group some time in June.

Got my flash suppressor back from Jeff a short while ago and just wanted to say thanks to Jeff for turning a “sow’s ear into a silk purse”! My M14 USGI flash suppressor was in really bad shape, but Jeff restored it to “National Match” perfection. Beautiful job on NM conversion and the refinishing is great. The trigger group arrived late afternoon today. I wiped off the trigger and hammer hooks and put it back in the rifle. Man, what a difference. It was so darn gritty before, it was terrible, you could hardly feel the stages.. Now it’s very, very smooth and my perception is that it feels lighter. There’s now a very smooth first stage followed by the wall of the second stage…. Which breaks sharply with no creep. Amazing… you sir, are a maestro of the M14 trigger….Regards,

I have a Springfield M1A I have had for about 3 years. I love the rifle, & use it for deer hunting. The trigger wasn’t good at all, & after reading about Jeff, & his skills I went ahead & sent him my trigger ahead of deer season, so I could get it back in time to get used to shooting it. The difference is like night & day! Man, this thing is so smooth through the first stage, & very crisp on the second. I now have pretty much a new trigger, with superior parts, instead of the cheap junk originally in it.

Sent Jeff a finish-worn gas cylinder that needed to be oxidized so it would look good and I would look like I knew how to care for my rifle. Jeff was great. I forgot to send in the lock and the front sight. Jeff called me and said to send them in because he takes pride in doing a job right. I did. Forgot to send in the stacking swivel. Another call from Jeff. Sent it in. A couple of days later, bam it was in my mailbox. Hard to believe it’s the same cylinder!! Looks as good as the day it was issued.
